Hey everyone, coming up this week are two events–FX4 and the Small Group Kickoff Night–to help us start off our small groups for the year! For clarification, please note the following:If you are a FRESHMEN, please come to FX4. If you are a sophomore junior or senior, please come to the Small Group Kickoff Night.There is no need to come to both.
FX4: Free, food, fun and fellowship!
An opportunity for all freshmen to meet their potential small group leaders, fellowship with other freshmen interested in the ministry, eat free food, and learn more about what the Edge is about!
When: 7:00PMonTuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of Week 1 (Sept. 29-Oct. 1) **It’s not necessary to come to all 3 days, simply choose the one that works best for you
Where: Social Ecology 2, Room 1306 (off Ring Road in the Social Science Plaza, close to Middle Earth, a little past Brandywine)
Small Group Kickoff Night!
A night for all sophomores, juniors, seniors and beyond to meet and hang out with each other, get to know all of the men’s, women’s, and co-ed small group leaders, and fellowship over free food!
When: Thursday, October 1st at 7:30 PM
Where: Newsong Church (18842 Teller Ave, Irvine–very close to campus!) There will be signs and people to direct you to the right room. **We would be very happy to provide rides! Please e-mail us if you need one!
Welcome Week 2009 is here! And we have a lot of big events coming up! We definitely encourage you to come out, meet some new people and join our community as we worship God through our fellowship and praise. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Monday, September 21: Worship Night will start at 7:00PM at SSLH! Our Newsong church worship team will be leading us in a time of worship and an opportunity to get to ready for the year, and it’s sure to be a powerful night! Invite your friends to come to SSLH 100 (social science lecture hall).
Tuesday, September 22: Game Night! Taking place from 7:00-10:00PM in Emerald Bay A&B (Student Center), this’ll be a night of video/board games and good opportunity to fellowship! Snacks provided.
Wednesday, September 23: Interfellowship Night. Every campus fellowship will be joining together to meet new students and worship together. It will take place at 7:00PM at Pacific Ballroom D at the UC Irivne student center. All are welcome. The Edge band is playing and we have our favorite, Dave Brubaker sharing along side other students from the different ministries represented on the UCI campus!
Thursday, September 24: Broomball! We’ll be heading out to Anaheim Ice rink to have a fun game of broomball. UPDATE Pick-ups will be at 8:30PM at the flagpoles.
Friday, September 25: Kickoff BBQ! Come join us for our first large-group gathering of the year, with free food, worship, games and a chance to get to know more about the Edge and Newsong. It will take place at 7:00PM, and pick-ups will be at 6:30PM at the flagpoles. Come Hungry, Come with yo’ Friends!
The new school year is soon upon us!
Summer Slam has come to a close on Aug. 20th it was powerful time of worship and prayer. A great way to close out our summer gatherings. We are taking a break for a few weeks but the Edge will be Kicking off the new school year during the week of Sept 21st. More info to come. If you are new and looking for small groups to join or ways to get connected, please be a part of Underground week!
Underground is what we call the week that coincides with UC Irvine’s welcome week or 0-Week. It’s a great opportunity for incoming freshman, transfer students and new people in general to get a taste of what the Edge is about and what Newsong is all about as well.
Wuddup yall?! What is a Summer Slam without a bonfire?!?! In the motion of food and fellowship, we will be having a bonfire this Thursday at Corona Del Mar State Beach. Food, drinks, activities, and worship will be provided. We will begin at 6:00, but if you guys are just kickin back and enjoying summer with nothing to do… come earlier and hang out with other Edgers at CDM at 4:00! Click HERE for more info! Hey ladies and gents! This Thursday, July 23rd, will be our 3rd Summer Slam large group! We will be having tacos made by our very own Teresa Kwon of Newsong Church. Please bring $3-4 to help pay for the food, drinks, and utensils costs. Our college pastor Abe will be tag-teaming with Santosh for the speaker slot this Thursday. Come out for a night of fun and fellowship; It’ll be a great way to see old faces and meet new people. Bring your friends along for some good food and we hope to see you this Thursday at 7:00!!
Hey everyone, our second Summer Slam large group is coming up this Thursday, July 9th!! This night will be similar to our Re:Act nights during the school year and will include snacks, music and worship, a message from our pastor Abe, and as always, it’ll be a great opportunity to meet some new people. If you’re new or have any friends who’d like to visit, we’d definitely encourage you to check it out and we’d love to get you more connected to the ministry. What a turn out at Summer Slam! There were more than 80 people that showed up. Thank you all for coming out last Thursday nite. I hope the chicken apple sausage and burgers and bocca burgers were delicious:) And who knew there were so many songs with the word ‘Heart’ in it!
We have small groups this summer and they’ll be focusing on the Meals that Jesus had in the book of Luke. This will be a great chance to get to know each other over a meal and plus the perfect time to show off grandma’s secret recipe or to engage in Iron Chef competitions or just plain ole’ buying of good food or cooking of whatever’s in the fridge.
Small groups will begin after the 4th of July weekend. We’ll keep you posted and contact you about where and when small group will be. If you have not signed up for small group please email theedge@newsong.net with your name, year in school, contact info, and which nights you are free: (mon, tues, wed) and if you are willing to host a group at your apartment/house.

Hey Folks the summer is here, meaning you are sitting around, sweating at home or stressing about your test tomorrow at summer school or you are working hard for money or your working hard for no money. Either way we would love for you to come be part of summer slam! Summer Slam begins June 25th Thursday 7pm at the Edge room. It’ll be every other thursday until Aug 20th!
This upcoming Summer Slam we’ll be having a free BQQ and games and music and a great way to get connected with old friends and new alike. If you are new, we would love to feed u and get to know you. And for those of you who are interested in getting more connected we would love to get you guys connected with our community via small groups. This summer as small groups we’ll be going through the meals that Jesus had with people in the book of Luke. Because of this we imitate Christ in eating good food this summer :).
